Week of November 7-11

Language Arts

This week, we will continue to work on poetry, figurative language terms, sensory language, and sound devices.  We will have our district's first reading benchmark on Wednesday, November 9th.  Please send a dry snack with your child on Wednesday. For example, they can bring goldfish, pretzels, crackers, dry cereal, or something that will not be messy, sticky, or give them "colored" fingers.

On Friday, we will celebrate our LC Annual Colonial Day!! We are so excited for our students to "make a memory" with all the incredible activities our parents have planned. Thank you to everyone for all your planning, hard work, and time in making this an amazing day for us all!!

Homework
Students will have homework this week, but it will be due on Wednesday, November 9th.  Please make sure your child is still reading every evening and recording their books on their Reading Log that is due on December 9th.

At home reading challenge
If you are looking for an extra way to challenge your child, I have information about a reading program that can be done at home.  I had this information available at Open House, but wanted to offer it again to anyone interested.  The program is Mensa for Kids.  This is something you and your child can discuss to do.  If you are interested, please send Ms. Conner an email and I will send home the information I have.

 Social Studies

This week, we will begin our unit on the American Revolution.  We will be reading from our History Alive books and will be recording the events as they happen in our reading notes.  We will also be viewing media that describes the events of the American Revolution.

There will be a test on the American Revolution on Thursday, November 17th.  Study guides will be given out this Thursday.

Homework will be given on Tuesday and due on Thursday of this week.
