Week of November 14-18

Language Arts

Last week, we completed our poetry unit.  We will revisit some of the terms as a reteach in a few weeks.  This week, we will begin our Drama unit.  We will learn the terms and practice reading a play. We will read our traditional "Arthur's Thanksgiving" play and demonstrate our understanding of the terms for our unit.  The students will complete many activities throughout the week to support their understanding of drama.  The students will also have an opportunity to create their own play in class.

Homework

Homework will be due on Friday.  Please make sure your child is reading every evening for at least 20 minutes.  Also, please make sure they are recording their books and their reading log.  Reading logs are due Friday, December 9th with a parent signature on the top right corner.

Social Studies

Last week, we continued to work on our unit on the American revolution.  We completed various activities including a Historical Marker commemorating factors that helped the Continental Army win the war.  This week, we will finish our unit on the American Revolution.  Students will also be comparing and contrasting the Loyalists and the Patriots.  We will have a test on the American Revolution on Thursday, November 17th.  Study guides were given out on Thursday, November 10th.
