Language Arts
On Monday, October 31st, we will have a Reading Common Assessment. This test has been designed to cover the past quarter to present required skills we have taught. There is not a study guide for this test. This test will provide data for us to use to reteach an area that was not mastered during our class lessons. This will also help our students practice before the District's Reading Benchmark test which is on Wednesday, November 9th. We will review the test, questions, and answers on Friday with our classes. We will also discuss vocabulary and testing strategies with our students.
Homework
Our weekly homework will not be as much as previous weeks due to our Reading Common Assessment, field trip, and District Math Benchmark. Please continue to have your child read daily. Make sure they are recording their books on their Reading Log. Their Reading Log is due on Friday, December 9th, but students can turn them as soon as they finish.
Social Studies
As you know, we will be on a field trip on Tuesday, November 1st. We will not be having social studies on this day.
On Thursday, students will be taking a states and capitals quiz on the last 25 states (Montana-Wyoming). This was announced last Tuesday, October 25th. Please make sure your child is studying for this. We will also be viewing various media on The American Revolution to give the students some prior knowledge before we start our unit on the American Revolution next week.
