This week, we will continue to work on our Drama unit, Theme, Author's Purpose, Similes, and Metaphors. We will have a very busy and productive week. As this semester's coming to a close, we will be revisiting several genres and objectives before the Christmas Holiday. In writing, we will be working on Persuasive writing with research to "back" our persuasive argument. Ask your child the topic they selected to write about and what their trying to persuade to others.
Homework
Please make sure your child is reading every evening for at least 20 minutes. Their Reading Logs will be due on Friday, December 9th for a major grade. Our regular homework will be given on Monday, November 28th and due Friday, December 2nd. Many students take advantage of advisory and work very hard to complete their homework, but we are asking for students to see you their homework and explain what they are learning about. Thanks for all your support.
Social Studies
This week, we will start a new unit on the Articles of Confederation and the writing of the Constitution and Bill of Rights. We will discuss why the Articles of Confederation was a weak government, and why the United States needed a Constitution. We will also explore what the purpose of government is.
Social Studies homework will be given on Tuesday and due on Thursday.
