Week of September 19-23


Language Arts

This week, we will continue to review grammar skills.  We will cover quotation marks this week.  All of the grammar skills we are covering are a review from previous years.  We will continue to work on the personal narratives as well.

In reading, we will work with the the four types of conflict in a story.  The students will complete a foldable illustrating the four types of conflict.  

Wednesday is "Read for a Better Life."  Thank you to the many parents that signed up to read on this day!  You are greatly appreciated!

Social Studies

In social studies this week, we will continue to learn the states and capitals.  We will also be discussing our government, good leadership qualities, and ways to be a good citizen.  On Thursday we will begin a unit on exploration.  Some of the explorers we will discuss are Columbus, Cortez, Ferdinand Magellan, and Coronado.

Homework will be assigned on Tuesday and will be do on Thursday.  There will be a test on government on Thursday, September 22.  Study guides were given last Thursday.
