Language Arts
This week will be shortened because we have the Science STAAR test on Wednesday, May 9th. On Monday and Friday, we will be working on and completing other components for the Wax Museum.
Please send a note with your child if assistance is needed for printing their required assignments for Wax Museum. Thank you.
Homework
This week our homework will be to complete their Research Paper at home. They had last week to complete outline and rough draft at school. The students were told once they finish their paper, a parent from home MUST grade their research paper and will out the rubric the students were given. Our classes have been working hard on their papers, please take the time to read their paper and make any corrections needed before they turn in their paper. On Friday, May 12th, the students will turn in their hand written outline, hand written rough draft, plus their typed research paper with the rubric from the parent who read and gave them their grade.
Summer Reading Program
I sent home a letter last week about a reading program I offer during the summer time. If anyone is interested, please send in form along with payment. I will send you an email letting you know I have received your form and payment along with my address and phone number. This is a great program to keep your kids engaged in reading and making sure all their growth they have made this year stays strong and have them ready for 6th grade. During this program, we will be completing several of the Summer Reading requirements for 6th grade. I looking forward to working with your child and staying in touch over the summer with all who attend.
Social Studies
Next week, we will be reviewing for the End of the Year Social Studies Benchmark the following week. We will be announcing the exact date next week. Students will be given a study guide for the benchmark, and we will be doing a variety of activities with the study guide in order to help the children prepare for the test. Please make sure your child is also studying at home.
